Making pies for Papa

Making pies for Papa

Wednesday night we are having a guest speaker in class.  My mom is coming to class to share her life and how she has served God in different ways as she has gone through the stages of her life.  She has been a stay-at-home mom, an educator, a successful business woman, and a persistent teacher of God’s word.

You will be inspired by her life and encouraged by her love.  She continues to spread the word of God through Bible studies with people here in Searcy and with people on the other side of the world.

Almost any day of the year, I might hear her say, “It’s just too pretty to be inside.  I think I will work in the yard for just a little while.”  Two, four, or six hours later, she’ll come inside, wipe the sweat from her face and declare, “I just lost track of time.”

I hope you can come to Highway Wednesday and get to know my wonderful, precious mother.

Since 2008 turned into 2009, I’ve been irritated by the little bur in my head thatstethoscopetells me I need to have my annual exams.  I finally put “make appointments” on my calendar.  I have 3 appointments now for Jan/Feb to the gyno, the mammo, and the dermo.  It’s your turn!

This is your reminder to make appointments with your doctors to have all of those annual exams.  Here’s what you do:

  • decide what check-ups you need
  • find the phone numbers now and put them in your phone ( I know it’s Saturday and nobody is there, but….)
  • set a reminder on your phone to ding on Monday morning
  • make those calls and get your appointments set up
  • do a little shopping afterward…

Encourage each other to take care!  We owe it to each other, to our families, and to all those women who are fighting for their lives.

Family Time January 3, 2009

The holidays at our house start out with great anticipation.  We look forward to our time in Lubbock regardless of the 12 hour trek…..Lots of cousins, aunts and uncles.  The morning of our departure, the younger kids get in the car a full hour before we leave.  We all have books and games and fully charged iPods.  This will be so fun! By the time we arrive, the books and games have missing pages or pieces.  The iPods are dead.  The snacks are gone or have turned to crumbs.  We are tired and grumpy.  Ahhhh….family time.2592618820_abb7d6505c

I Corinthians 10:31  “Therefore, whether you eat or drink, whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.”

I just hope that in everything I do, whether I am full of energy and organized or tired and worn out, I will bring honor and glory to God.  Some times are harder than other times to fulfill this scripture.  I am so thankful for God’s grace and mercy on me.

Sometimes I feel like this baby, I just want to lay down and cover my eyes.

By the time we left Lubbock, my patience was about gone.  I was ready for everyone in the car to be silent and happy…or at least asleep for our 12 hours home.  It was the hardest time for me to reflect the love and grace of our precious Savior.  I felt like this baby.  I was done.  I had nothing left.

What about you?  Did the holidays leave you spent or energized?
